    Default assembling a computer

Where could we buy computer parts that are cheap? I am planning to assemble a computer since it is cheaper that way.

    Any tips?

Local vendors sell parts. But it will be better to get the whole thing assembled from someone else.

    1. First you need all the tools to do the job.
    2. Second, you will have to hunt for the parts, negotiate best prices, etc.
    3. Third, fixing the CPU to the Mobo is a tricky job. You need to stick the heatsink to the cpu using a special gel paste. After attaching the heat sink, you need to clip on the fan.
    4. Fixing the drives in the bay is also cumbersome if right tools are not used.
    5. The final cost of buying the spares yourself and assembling to getting a m/c assembled may work out to be the same.

Unless your intention is to learn "How-to", it is better to get it done by the vendor.

Definitely suggested not to do it yourself.
The spares in retail will cost more than what it wud actually cost an assembler.
Assembling the CPU is a tedious process if not brainy.
In case you are curious, you can be present at the assembler's place while he assembles your PC.

Buying a branded one is always better.

i agree buying a branded one is better idea coz Assembling a system can give you a number of problems and vendor can refuse to take responsibility of some parts but in branded computer you can get everything fixed from manufacturer only

In Delhi Nehru Place is the best place to get computer or anything related to computers

If you are sure about owning a assembled computer, then I suggest you to buy your favorite brands for each part but don't assemble by yourself. It is not a work to be done by a lay man but by a hardware person.

Don't read any article online or offline about assembling a computer and work accordingly. Just hire a technician.

I guess you can save more on the set ones than that.

If this is the first time you are getting a PC assembled ..it is very important that you find a trusted Assembler .....

If you know to assemble it yourself ... no swet .... most people dunnno that assembling a PC is "easy as pie" ..... you can learn it just by watching someone else assembling one ..
I assembled my PC[hardware enthusiast] myself ... its a fairly advanced rig ...And i regularly disassemble it for cleaning dust and applying artic ice [cooling cream ] to the insides ....

It can be done, but just make sure you know exactly what you are doing.

It is always better to go for a branded one or else you'll suffer a-lot, cause is that you got to move here and there for the parts and then search for a trusted person to assemble it.....?????????

If you would have been here at my place i would have assembled it.....
    Trust me:nono:

    Ok Ok just joking

Go according to the suggestion.I will suggest for the branded one so that if your computer got any problem any time then at least you will not suffer.....

Going for the cheapest rate is not a good thing spend little more and get reliable system..Rest is up to you we can only suggest you(nothing else).

See you with this suggestion see you with a new PC.

What a load of crap, I have assembled PC's for 4 years now and I can say that most of them are better then branded PC's.

The following are the reasons why

    1. I know exactly what I put in the PC, from the brand of the RAM to the Cabinet. Unlike Branded PC's where they buy cheap spare parts in bulk from Taiwan.

    2. It take a child to assemble a computer. Its a simple process and you can get it done from the Shop itself for a nominal rate if you are not comfortable

    3. Branded PC's come with exorbitant margins to the company. The same amount of money will buy you a mind boggling configuration

    4. Most branded parts come with individual warranty and are easily replaced.

I always tell people to check the price of the banded computer and then go to the computer market (Nehru Place in Delhi, SP Road in Bangalore etc) and check out how much it costs to assemble the same configuration.

Needless to say most come back with the assembled PC's :w00t:
