Default Which Brand of Speakers to buy?

Does any one have idea about which speaker to buy? I have Creative with me (Cambridge Soundworks) that have started creating lot of trouble for me. I do not much appreciate Altec Lancing for their not so good design and average performance. Creative for a very long time remained my favorite. With the passage of time their price and quality of product both are deteriorating smoothly. That’s why I am looking for an alternative.
Bose, Companion-3 costs around 13000/- but here again Bose people use their own jargon and not those terms we are familiar with such as RMS. Reason for not purchasing Bose is that we have Companion – 5 that costs more than 20,000/- and companion -3 is very old model. More importantly, net search reveals that some say it is good some say this companion – 3 is average performer at high price.
Now I came to know that other player in the field are ONKYO and JBL. Please suggest some good brand and model with price. I mean what to buy and where to buy. Budget is around Rs.10000/- I want 2.1 or more for my computer and Worldspace.

Question

You have criticized pretty much all the good companies Creative , Altec Lan are Some of the best companies when it comes to mid range category and Bose is top when it comes to Higher level .

For 10k you could very well go for 5.1 .....why go for 2.1 ?

Friends, I try to keep what I write short and simple. That’s why my views on Creative and Altec Lancing are on Macro level. Of course, they are market leaders. For me, most of the Altec Lancing models are just like leaning tower of Pisa (Here I mean foot space) that does not attract much. One of my friends assembles computer for our group of friends and acquaintances just in order to keep in touch with the market. For the past some time blindly we were recommending everyone Creative Brand of speakers. Now, after every one and half year (Max.two years) IC of new speakers in the woofer will get weak resulting in distorted bass and somehow weak sound output. I am around Delhi and most of the dealers show, their Creative buyer, the way to Okhla only authorized service centre of Creative. Depending upon model they are charging around 450/- at least for changing IC. No doubt old models are very good. Last time when my friend took his woofer (5.1) to Okhla for changing weak IC. Service Boy offered my friend like this “These old models are really very good. If you are interested I can purchase this system. You see, it takes about 25-30 minutes to open this woofer as it is so smartly packed (some 8 Screws to unfold). New models are coming here frequently for same problem within 2 years of purchase and it takes virtually no time to open apart these new systems”. One more problem with Creative is with their sound controller (new models). For my 2.1 sound controller that guy demanded Rs.500/- may be it is due to that this model is 5 years old. I could not believe my ears.

If someone, still recommends some really good stable model from Creative or Altec Lancing I shall be more than happy to have one. On the other hand there is no harm if we break the jinx and try to explore the unexplored.

The info that Creative and Antec Lansing speaker are consistently bad is also news to me.

One reason could be that the power supply in your area is bad, full of spikes, etc. which is causing damage to circuits in the speaker system.

Try other speakers such as Logitech.

Hey Guys, Even I need some help.

My PC Speakers are not working properly. I want to buy a new set. Which one is the best??? I'm not interested in any Sub-Woofers. I want to buy normal speakers. I stay in Hyderabad. Please suggest me a good brand of Speakers and also post the Estimated price.

Thanks,

Thumbs up Re :

If you want your music to sound great, take a look at replacing your current car speakers. Dollar for dollar, it's one of the best ways to improve your car's sound. With good car speakers on board, you'll enjoy brighter highs and beefier lows. Plus, you'll probably hear details in your music that may have been missing before.
