I want to buy a cpu (just cpu)
It must able to run gta 4. Could any one sugges a configuration. I have heard that amd is cheap should i go for it.
Well i dont require a dvd rom
just these things
1. Cabinet
2. Ram-2 gb
3. Processor 2.6 ghz or above
4. Graphic card -(i think nvidia 8600 gt)
5. Mother board
6. Hard disk

go for amd.

but i guess the budget has to be extended more for what you desire.

Almost every cabinet will support nVidia 8600 gt. Cabinet is just an outer case.

I have posted this b4:

Get ur budget upto 13k and u can get an ok/midrange brand new rig.
If u want specs 4 new rig here they r:
processor AMD 5000+ = 2.7k
Mobo : palit 780G = 3.8k
ram: 2gb(2x1gb) DDr2 800 =1.5k
keep ur old DVD writer or get new =1.2k
160GB HDD = 2.2k
some case with psu = 1.7k.
total:13.1k

If u want an even low budget rig :
AMD 5000+
mobo= giga 740G = 3.3k
ram = 1GB ddr2 800 = 750
keep ur old DVD writer or get new =1.2k
160GB HDD = 2.2k
some case with psu = 1.7k.

total : 11.1k

dude in ur MEGA low budget ur expecting a discreet gfx card, i guess u stick to the 780G(on board).
Later (6months later), Get an ATI 5xxx series card. I saw their speculated specs and they r CRAZZZZYYYYYYYYY. A $100 card should perform almost equal to a 4870!!!!(its got 1000 Sps and DDR3 mem).

Also, u can put an AM3 Phenom II later. This rig should be very upgradeable.

go for core2duo.amd heats up too much.i run gta4 seamlessly on a 2.2ghz core2duo with 2gb ram and 256mb dedicated graphics.

I would suggest you to go for Intel Atom platform based PC

ATOM D945GCLF-ATOM board + ATOM 1.6 GHz Rs.3550

DUDE DO U WHEN GTA4 WAS OUT ??
ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO PLAY GTA4 ON UR SYSTEM. IT REQUIRES MIN 1.5GB RAM.

Ur talkin abt some ancient gta. The latest GTA is called GTA4.

Even GTA san andreas will run very bad on ur comp right ?(all low settings)

i think your cpu will be costing you to about 12-14000 bucks...
