Thread: Anyone here tested the Nvidia GTX 295

the new GPU from Nvidia seems gr8 but i'm really worried about the loss of memory bandwidthas compared to the ATI 4870 X2, though i would agree that it dishes out better performances in all categories but i'm thinking that i'll wait untill aTI unleashes it's reply to this card...

ATI is not gonna "reply" anytime soon.
You will only see price cuts from both sides.
ATI will be releasing the RV770 refresh soon(march).
That is a 40nm die shrink and a few more Shaders.
They will release the RV740 also. It has 640 Shaders. Will be replacing the 4830.


Memory bandwidth is not an issue bro. They would perform similar. The ATI 4870X2 has GDDR5 memory with a 256 bit bus. The GTX295 has GDDR3 memory but with a 448 bit path to the 896MB of memory(for each GPU, so its 2X896 = 1792MB)
