the 810a was the best sony drive, then the optiarc 7200, both kind of legends! 810 was made by benq.

yes the lens cud have dust... a simple cleaning operation might get it up and running.

i think HP drives are also very good in reading and writing long lasting........

by looks and initial service 810a was surely very good. i am still using it somehow. but this drive causes lot of problems. the tray mechanism defects are faced by many.

you guys know what the 810a model was the 2nd dual layer writer from sony..........it completly follows the 800a model.....but there are very few changes are there in both of them....like read/write speed,updated software and better media compatibility............
