Thread: suggest printer

Hi,

I am looking to buy an all-in-one printer for around Rs. 5k. Which is the best model? The cartridges must be easily refillable. My current Canon IP 4200 has chipped cartridges which cannot be refilled.

Ok, you also did the mistake that i did. Canon is a piece of crap.

As your's case of choked cartridge, mine also ended the same, infact i also bought a brand new one for RS, 500, but for what, to see that it did'nt even run for one time. i printed two pages, ink gone and tried to refill it it got choked

So, I got Hp printer, and till now i have done countless refills, and the cartridge is still perfect. Just remember to fill it using syringe, and donot use alcohol to clean it. IT will wear off the rubber or something like that in it and make it useless.

So my suggestion go for HP printer.

Which HP printer model do you have? Is it an all-in-one?

yes HP printers are always good.... i have tried HP 640c, Epson(dont remember the model number), HP 3940, and now HP office jet J4580 and its working like a GEM no problems at all..... HP ROCKS

well this is a nice thread. i would also like an advise.

I am looking for a compact smalll printer. Only black and white will also do. Dont want much costly. My basic necessity is for my application purposes and also printing my e books i got. and it should be handy whereever i carry it. i have seen some in many shops.

please tell me which one to buy and how much it will cost. Pic will be additional better. Also let me know how much later cartridges will be costing me. As printing big big ebooks for me i have to consider tht too..

I am using HP's F380 its good and is AIO. I don't about Refill, but i guess it can be refilled. I always by the catridge, as refilling hampers the printer after some time. Anyways its personal choice. The catridges aren't so costly, it is about 350-400 for black and 750-800 for color. Fast Draft printing prints about 100 pages.

Black i can help but not with white printing...LOL (just kidding)

as you have said the printing cost should be less ..... that means you have to go for any DOT MATRIX printer which will have no Ink but ribbon for printing. Printer will cost at least 7,000/- RS (depends on what size you prefer) but ribbon is very cheap ie ~30 RS. In 1 ribbon you can print up 500 pages minimum.
Printer is not very handy. its a bit big in size. this is the smallest.



Now if you come to Inkjet printer, the printer cost is low but the cartridge cost is high, printer is very handy. ex: the image here is of HP 3940 Deskjet cost is around 2,500 RS, can print colour too, the cartridge cost is 600 RS for Black & 900 for colour (approx). Heard that these cartridges can be re-filled by using inks, though never tried.

HP is a good brand for printers and all in one printers. They are reliable and have a good variety in the printer range!

Ive seen the copy, scan and printer one in a store, but i think you can also now get one with a fax too. Although im not too sure about the cost, but its worth finding out about it.

I have gone for HP 4288 (print-scan-copy). Let's see how it goes

I was recommended this printer by few people but it was above my budget range, so I went with the 4288. The 4580 gets lot of good reviews from users.

1) I just want black and white copies.. So, is there any other HP printer. My budget is around 6-7k
2) In case of J 4580, if i use only black ink, what would be an aproxiame cost per copy?

All HP colour printers have an option to "print in B&W only" also. I have this printer (HP 6280):

This printer is nice. The color cartridges are expensive at Rs. 533/- each. Black cartridge is for Rs. 1000. I never use refilled ones.

But there are cheaper ones available. The HP 4388 is also a good option for everyday printing.

J 4580 cost is approx 2rs/copy B&w and 3 rs for color

Thanx for all the replies... Now have many options to choose from apart from HP J4580 All in One... Prominent among those are C 6280 HP All In One and C 4388 HP All in One....

The price for HP F2235 Inkjet printer is 3375 Rs. It has al three, print, scan and copy. I am about to finalise the product as I think Fax is a function which may not be required in the near future (earlier i thought of buying J 4580). I have also asked for C 4388 but that is mainly for people who use more photoshop...Laser is expensive and i was told all three functions enables printer would cost 13-14k.

I have some queries

1) Is the product worth for the amount? Is it rightly priced?

2) How is the quality of print after refilling? I am asking you the question as
the rate of refilling the cartridge is around Rs. 75 and cost of new cartrtidge is Rs. 700..Obviously, the new cartridge would not be financially viable each time the ink gets over...

Canon AIO MP 145 @ 3k

i have heard of local devices with which you can directly hook up bottles of color with some tubing to cartriges of inkjet printers and some small connectors.
It reduces color printing cost drastically....

Try for HP 2200 series.... Its in the specified range and the customer service is also good...
