Default where to store media files to make them long last

friends help me

i have many movies with me on my hard disk and i have burnt them on Sony blank dvd's.....my question is what is the best option to make my movie files last long?

i thought about buying an external hard disk....but its draw back is if it gets corrupt then all the movies would become waste.....

and about blank dvd's i have heard that even if they don't get scratches then also after certain period of time they become corrupt

so is there any way,any other storage device to use so that i can store my files and use them for many years to come?

as of now, I believe hdd/external hdd is the best option instead of writing in CD/DVD. As CD/DVD has less life period compared to hdd.

Quite true. An external hard disk is the best choice available. All of us use hard disk in our computer. And they rarely fail. That too after years.

The cost depends on the size. I think you can connect a few of them using USB.

Here is one of the link, you can find many other.

80GB USB Pocket Portable External Hard Disk, 2.5-Inches 80 GB HDD gifts in india at rediff shopping.

Check with a local vendor. You can negotiate for a lower price.

1. You can check futurebazaar HDD Rates for this

2. For external HDD you can simply plug it into USB port of computer and start using it.
For internal HDD you need to connect it on Serial ATA (for this i suggest you to contact computer vendor as you are not sure about system hardwares)

There are many users who are of the opinion that 500 GB HDD has a very high failure rate.

not necessarily so any HDD from any company can RANDOMLY fail, but cetain models of seagate like 7200.8,9,10,11 are known to have problems.

Seagate model 7200.12 has no known problems as of yet.So its the safest bet right now
