Thread: A Great problem in Pen Drive

some day ago i purched a 32GB pen drive(China Make) from Lajpat Rai Market, Delhi.Some day it work good . One day it show full memory . I tryed to open it, its show some Chinies langauge. i tryed to delet it but failed
at last i formeted it . than its show again 32gb space but actual problem started here. When i tranfered file into pen drive .it was showing but after removing from laptop and inserted again , it was showing full files but when i try to open some files were opened and some files were not opened. when i check property of unopened files ,its show 0 size .but when i checked pen drive property it show full size ( file size of opend + file size of not open file ) . I formated again than copy again of that file which are not opened previously, now it work but another files started problems


please tell me , what is this?

if any body have solution please tell me

you seem to have been duped .... many chinese made pen drives are fakes

1) Did you try using the pen drive in some other system?
If not, try that.

2) If you don't find any problems with it, while using in some other system, then get a good anti-virus and scan your computer. And please avoid pirated anti-virus (as well as other) softwares.You can use the Online Scan facility of McAfee or any other which you can use for free.

3) And this is the most painful possibility for you. You must have been cheated. Not many of these Chinese products are reliable.

yes , i try to another system but problem was still . I have using antivirus also

Then I think that you were cheated.
You should have asked someone to help you get a good one, or you should have bought it from an authorised and trustable seller.
I don't know how it's there since I am not experienced with the region, but try asking the one who sold it to you atleast some of the amount (you can just hope), or atleast get a replacement (that wouldn't be anything better ofcourse).

I don't think there could be much you can do now.
So, try to be careful, atleast from now on, while buying these kind of items.

What was the format of the Pen drive ?? If it was FAT, then u cant put files larger than 3GB on it. If u try, it will give u a disk full error.

How much did it cost you?? if it was too cheap, then definitely fake

I dont think thats the problem .... read the first post carefully .... there were multiple files ...... sounds very much like a cheating case .... price will confirm that

It seems u have been cheated. Go to that shop & return your pendrive & ask for a refund.
I remember once my friend had exactly the same problem . No formating solution would work. Your pendrive is useless now.

You're definately cheated...My friend got 4-5 quantities of 32 Gb pendrive and not even one works..It perfectly copies, It shows everything but when you run it you get to know that you've been cheated...

So how much did you pay to get it?? My friend got in for 400 bucks, You should be careful enough after seeing it's price...400 bucks for 32 Gb, Definately Fishy...

I paid only Rs200/

Rs. 200 for 32GB pen drive. Ask yourself, does that price sound reasonable to you?

When something is available insanely cheap, there must be a catch somewhere.

This happened also at one of my friend's company in Mumbai.
One person came there selling 16 GB pen drives at dirt cheap prices.

I have limited technical knowledge about hardware, but my friend who is into IT gave me a short and simple explanation of how this was made possible.

Basically it's a normal 1 or 2 GB drive. The firmware is however programmed to show non existent space. so, it appears like 32 GB, although real space is only 1-2 GB. Files shown on the drive are not really copied due to this virtualization of space.

You can convert this drive into a useful 1-2 GB drive (i.e. of it's real capacity) by a firmware update.

A very non-technical explanation, but i hope it helps.

The firmware shows non existent space ..... Unless you know to physically manufacture memory ... it would be impossible

what he meant by his post is that " your flash drive is actually a 1-2 GB flash drive"
can you convert a 1-2GB falsh drive into a 32GB drive ??

Its possible that the manufacturer did it right ?? If he wanted to cheat he could have done it......

Good link ..... i think he should follow this tutorial ..... and reinstall the firmware and convert his pen drive into a 1or 2GB pen drive ...who knows it might even be a 512 mb pen drive
