I am currently using 8400 GS NVIDIA no issues with it but now recently i played COD 5 in friends pc who also has the same configuration it was working very slow like in slow motion .... i dont know if the game itself is like that ... apart from that no issues at all..!

Adobe CS4 Full pack, Dreamweaver, Maya etc SW work smooth as butter no issues...!

If your budget is 5k don't go for NVIDIA 8400 GS
    Its lower than 2.5K now.
Mine is same board (GIGABYTE GV-NX84S512HP)i cant play GTA 4,
even FLAT OUT 3 OR ASSASSINS CREED.
GO FOR GeForce 9600 GT 512MB OR Radeon HD 4830 512MB
ATI Radeon HD 4830 512MB is better than 9600 and good for budget too.
HD 4830 having 640 Stream Processing Units and DirectX 10.1,OpenGL 2.1 while 9600 has got only 64 Stream Processing Units and DirectX 10

Among the 3 you mentioned 9500GT wins Hands down ....

If you understand NVidia naming system you can guess the card's performance just by looking at the name

Here GS = low end card
    GT= medium range card

    My suggestion for your Budget

    1) 8600GT
    2) 9500GT

yes 8600GT performs better than the 9500GT

if you can stretch ur budget a little try to get yourself an 8800GT or an 9800GT .... these are great gaming cards best value for money

I guess u got that wrong, chk here:
    techPowerUp :: Galaxy GeForce 9500 GT Overclocked 512 MB Review :: Page 26 / 28

see the green bar. A 9500GT is almost fast as 8600GTS.

A 9500GT or a 9600GT should be enough to game at low res right ???(17"screen?)

Also, does ur PSU(power supply) have a 6pin PCIE connector ?

and as shadow said, 9800GT/8800GT should be very good options and also bcos u will game at low res, 256MB should not harm too badly.

A 4830 is too costly. I mean its way out of his range. A 9600GT should be fine. But if u can get ur hands on a 8800GT, just go 4 it.

    look at these 2:
    Palit NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB Graphics Card - GF 9600GT 512MB by:

    and

    Powercolor AX4670 1GBK3-P PCS HD4670 1GB DDR3 Graphics Card - AX4670

i havent chek the inside component of my pc coz i bought it recently from the shop (assembled by them)
i finally made up my mind to purchase ati 4670 from online shop (psst in my locality there's is no ati product)
so just to test it i had order one fan for my pc (rs500)

Ask those ppl who assembled ur comp what PSU u got. Ask them if it has a 6 pin PCIE connecter. If it DOES, i suggest u go for a 9600GT(link in my previous post), else go ahead with a ATI4670.

PS: This stuff that ATI is better for gaming is bs. Both ATI and NV are good.

Yes i had read all the reviews before , which said that 9500GT had a (very) slightly better performance

but one of my friends here had both cards and he said practically(going by games and not benchmarks) 8600GT performed better than 9500GT contrary to all reviews ......

but that is open to interpretations ......

My advice go for either 8600 or 9500GT (the difference is too small for u to notice)

if u can stretch ur budget 8800 or 9800GT

    thats it !

hey, if u can strech ur budget, u HAVE TO buy the ATI 4770(not 4670).
It is a LOT faster than the 9800GT/8800GT. It even pawns the ATI4830. It comes very very close to the ATI4850 and when u OC it its even beats the ATI4850. U can BUY it frm techshop.in for 6.5k. Its the best ever deal out there. U can not go wrong.

Its the RV790 in 40nm with DDR5 memory. Its highly overclockable and runs cool. Its power consumption is low. Just go 4 it !!!!!
    here is link:
    MSI ATI Radeon HD4770 R4770-T2D512 512MB GDDR5 Graphics Card -

this card will easily get u 2-3 Times the performance of a 8600GT.

do not even think of a 8800GT/9800GT with this around.

    I bought a sparkle nvidia 9500GT 512MB DDR2 on dec 2008 for 3750/-

I have P4 pc and 2gb ddr1 400Mhz ram still it works perfect.

Games played at max settings with out any frame drop.

    I play at 1024x768 in 17 CRT

    NFS Pro street (max settings)
    FIFA 09 (max)
    Race driver Grid (max)
    Test drive unlimited(max)
    POP T2T (max)
    Splinter Cell DA (max)
    NFS Undercover (almost max)
    Just Cause (max)

I coudnt try crysis also gta 4 and other new games.
But i am very much satisfied with the perfomance so far.

This is the case of p4.Then perfomance will be doubled using core2duo and ddr2 rams

    Since ur budget is 5500
    There are two options
1 Go for 9500GT DDR3 I think cost will be less than ur budget and no need of separate psu
2.Dont go for out dated cards only look for ddr3 ones
3.Go for 9600GT but u will need a separate psu of higher wattage costs1500+

Nope performance will not doubl with a c2d and ddr2 rams ....... gfx processing will remain the same .... but the game loading times and physical effects in game will improve with a faster process and ram

4670 is def better than 9500GT though i have not taken price into account as i am not aware of how much the 4670 costs

yes as shadow said performance will be more or less same, as the system looks more or less balanced to me. Yea 4670 is faster, but i would strongly, some how, get more cash for the 4770(only if u have a 6pin PCIE connector).

That 1k more will really fetch u a LOT of performance.

that means the game that can be played with 4770 cannot be played with 4670.............

simple example: u can play crysis on high setting @1280x1024 with a 4770, but u cant on a 4670.

    hmmmm
that 4pin connector is used in the mobo, its not the one i m talkin abt. Since its frontec (came with case i guess?), i dont think u will have a PCIE connecter. So, if ur not willing to change ur PSU, ur best option is a ATI4670. I m looking for shops selling the 9600GT green(it does not require PCIE connecter), but can find them yet. Plz w8 for 1-2 more days, i got a feeling that techshop.in will get some more new stuff.

Found it Found it !!! If u dont mind buying frm techshop.in, this is a good deal IMO, w8 4 others reply too.
