Default Need Help Decide GPU Cooler!!

    Hi Friends,

It's my first post here, and I am sure I am at the right place to get an expert advice.

Now, here's my question. I am looking for a good GPU Cooler for my MSI 8800 GT 512MB. With stock cooler, the temps goese as high as 80-85 deg Cel. and not to mention sounds like four 8 wheeler truck.

I researched on the net and came with few good GPU coolers for my card. Chk this out:

(Darn!! I am not allowed to post URLs to other sites, untill I have posted 15 posts)

These are the cards, which I think wud be good:

-Thermal Light HR-03-GT (i think, wud be too expensive)
-Zalman VF-1000 LED (definetly an option)
    -Akasa Vortexx Ne0 (great looks!!)
-Duorb CL-Go 1202 (not sure, how will it perform)
-Arctic Accelero S1 (cheap, and gud performace)

Now, out of all these, which one do you guys think wud be gud choice for 8800GT 512MB?

And, also from where can I get them in Delhi? Any contact info wud be gr8. My budget is 3K-4K.

As your budget is upto 3krs
Akasa Vortex neo should do ...... Silent with super good looks .... it should perfectly do the job for a 512mb 8800gt and its the easiest install for a first timer

    Any one of these three

the difference in temp between these would be a few degrees and price would be a few hundred rupees

    Zalman VF1000 LED

Thermaltake Duorb VGA Cooler (my pick)

    ZEROtherm HC92 Cu 8800

ZEROtherm has availability issues in India ....i believe Zalman is the more easily available among these three

These temps r kinda unusual for a 8800GT. Just clean it. Remove the dust, temps may drop as much as 20C. Did u try any OCing software to increase the fan speed ????? Try Riva tuner.

Even i was looking for fans for my 4850, i could not find any shops. If u find, plz do tell us the place.

Delhi is a very hot place ....... and in such places , gaming for a few hours can send the temp spiraling upwards during summer ... just take a look at the weather forcast its 40+ degree c everyday

No I did not OCed it.

I haven't tried cleaning the dust off it. that cud be handy. I will try it and will let you know if it made any difference. Also I m thinking of applying some thermal paste. What do you think?

I know. Playing burnout for 2-3 hrs, rockets my GPU temp to 80-85 deg C. With AC turned on, it drops down by 10-12 deg C.

    Hi rajan1311,

I cleaned my stock GPU Cooler and it actually worked. Now, I am getting a constant temp of 58 deg C at idle and 72-76 deg C at load. I haven't used any tool to increase the fan speed. I will try that and apply some thermal paste and chk what difference it makes....thnx again for your advice.

    RivaTuner

Do not put the fan speed above 50-60%.
