    Default SanDisk Ultra Backup

USB drives are very popular and most importantly very useful. Now there is something new in the form of US drive, which is the SanDisk Ultra Backup 16 GB, this is a drive has a USB design, and also has a small backup button. The drive has a software called U3, which allows you to copy all your desktop onto the drive.

The SanDisk Ultra Backup 16Gb is priced at Rs 2499.

This seems like a good device, and performance wise as compared to a hard drive, well im not sure about that. But i would day it seems better than getting an external hard drive.

yest but if you add just 500/- more and you get a nice 160GB passport drive from the manufacturer of your choice. Also portable HDs are more reliable when storing large files as compared to Pen drives.

because flash drives uses different kind of chips which are less reliable than the information stored magnetically on platters in a hard disc.passport drive is nothing but a fanciful name for a portable hard disc brand of WD(western digital) which is relatively more slimmer than its normal portable hard disc range.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

If handling is not an issue, which type of HDD , flash or magnetic would be suited for

    a. best performance
    b. life time & reliablity

for now magnetic HDD wins hands down on both reliability & performance.only very expensive flash based HDD's have a better read speeds than normal HDD's.

lifetime is a very fanciful word & should be used with caution my friend.what do you mean by lifetime?is it your expected lifetime or something else?in any case every technology has some time limitations but you can safely bet on magnetic HDD's for ~15000 hours from my personal experience though theoratically they are supposed to lasts longer.(i have 1 samsung 40GB which has completed ~11000 hours & still going strong).

yes i'm talking about the hours thing oly, i think the word is MTBF right ? normal pen drives have limited read write cycles , so have these flash hdds overcome this problem ?

currently flash HDD's you find have a much lesser lifetime compared to normal HDD's.you have to wait for a few years i think.
