Thread: Requesting suggestions for new DSL Splitter

My DSL Splitter seems to have gone kaput. for the last two days, whenever I tried to connect to internet, there was either no connection or it got disconnected with a few minutes. Then I connected to direct line (instead of thru the splitter) and got a stable connection. Again the moment I connected to the splitter, the problem returned. So it seems that the problem is in the splitter.

Now I have two options,
1. To take it to BSNL and ask for replacement. Given the way they function, it can take anything from 2 days to 2 weeks.
2. To get a replacement from open market, if its not too costly

So can anybody please help regarding,
1. how much does a DSL splitter cost in the open market
2. where can I get one in New Delhi
3. is there any specific brand that I should go for
4. are there different types of DSL splitter that I need to keep in mind

A DSL splitter is very cheap. At most Rs. 75/-; less than that actually. It should be available in any electrical shop.

any specific brand, or any one is as good as the other

Usually these are the no-name brands. A DSL splitter is a simply low-pass filter.

There are 2 types of DSL splitters available in the market, one is a tad heavy & the other is lightweight.

I've heard that the heavier one is better.

My 1st one was of D-link.
