Thread: qualities of a good LCD?

Hi all,

I was looking for some pointers for which qualities to look for in an LCD monitor when taking it for official use as opposed to personal/entertainment use?

Please guide me. Also, what are the best specs for both categories?

What is the difference - official use vs. personal use?

If you are using it for yourself then it is all personal. Look for the following:

• good resolution: 1280x1024 or 1440x900 or higher
• as large a size as money can buy
• low response time: 2 ms

Contrast ratio: higher the better.

(difference between the blackest black and whitest white)

Low: 2000:1
mediocre: 5000:1
good: 10000:1
Great: 20000:1 and above

The higher the contrast ratio more realistic the colour representation will be.

Lookout for real contrast ratio. Most manufacturers advertise dynamic contrast ratio which is pure bullshit in my opinion.

What are the best brands for LCD screens ?
I need a 22" one. can u plz suggest.

i myself always suggest, Sony Or Samsung....i don't like LG, dunno y??, but sony and samsung is good...have a look for the model...

Budget is about Rs11,000 -13,000.

Sony is hard to find here. Which samsung model would u recommend ?can u link it plz.
