    Default Pen Drive Problem.

Okay, I bought this new 8 gb kinston pendrive in my recent delhi trip, Copied some data from my office PC, and when i plugged in my laptop to transfer it doesn't work..

Let me tell you what exactly is happening, I plugged pen drive it shows that autorun window for couple of seconds and closes automatically, When i checked in my computer i didn't see anything.. I then tried to safely remove from safely remove button on taskbar but didn't see my pendrive.. Then i checked my device manager and saw yellow exclamation mark in my "USB storage device"

I then check "USB Storage properties"

So i thought it's because earlier i didn't remove the pendrive properly, so i unplugged it and plugged it again and tried but no success, I then restart my laptop and then i tried, and guess what it worked but when i tried to copy the data it again become unavailable, I then tried again but same thing occurred(It flashes and closed), and when i restart again it worked for first time and closed after some time...

So what can i do now??

    P.S
    I'm using window 7

Well i don't want to format the drive, as it contain important data and i don't have backup, Also i don't think it's virus problem, My office computer is virus free(I'm in anti-virus company, that makes me say so..lol), Nevertheless i'll try formatting if nothing happen

Did you tried any other system. My LG mobile which work as USB is also showing an error when used with Windows 7, but works well in XP.

My primary OS is XP. Left the W7 part unsolved.

Try to update the driver. Driver agent may be able to find one.

if it works at your workplace it cannot be a virus problem but avoid using the cafe downloads to save things in your pendrive there are often problems ive faced saving it in my pen drive.

I tried to reinstall the driver and it is updated according to windows 7, But as soon as i attach the USB, The yellow exclamation mark comes to it..

There must be some solution to this silly problem, or do i have to switch back to win XP because of that only

This may be a problem cuz Windows 7 uses a new version of NTFS files system. This problem occurs if the pen drive was formatted in an earlier version of the Windows NTFS file system. For example, this problem occurs if the drive or the device was formatted from Microsoft Windows XP.

I suggest that take the backup of the data in any Windows XP Operating System based Computer. Then, try formatting the pen drive in Windows 7. It should work.

Was it formatted successfully? If not, try formatting it in a Wndows Vista based computer...
