There are 2 type of Sony DVD's available in the market, one is Made by Moser Baer and another is imported. As far as i know the imported ones are better but are hard to find.

Moser Baer is according good for pricing but again like mentioned imrock if you want quality then it would Sony which is also costlier. I think it would also depend on what you want it for, videos, songs, data.

Maybe you can try avoid buying in bulk, i do because i find whatever you buy in bulk your bound to find something wrong or defective in one of the pieces.

If one is talking about the international market, then Tayo Yuden is the best - price and quality-wise.

In India, there are very few brands available - Sony, Imation, Moser-Baer, and maybe a couple more. Hardly any case for comparison. Moser-baer is cheap and fairly OK. Sony is reliable but more expensive.

For bog's sake, the difference is only one rupee, and both Moser baer and Sony are equally likely to be defective. I never buy them in bulk, but have found from experience that every 2 to 3 out of 10 DVDs of both brands, turns out to be defective. Only yesterday, i purchased a Sony DVD that caused my burner to display an error message after which the burn process was aborted. Not only that, my file browser ("My Computer" to Windows users) stopped showing any inserted media and caused me to have a heartburn, until after several reboots and finally a cold restart. It's not wasting the cost of a DVD or two that i mind too much, but that such media could do serious damage to our DVD writers. My question is, do you guys think my retailer is knowingly dishing out duplicate Sony and Moser Baer DVDs? If so, do any of you know of a reliable retailer/Computer stationary shop, in and around Bandra?

PS: My present retailer is "Mittal Stationary Centre, Opp. Abhudaya Bank, Hill Road, Bandra (W)"..avoid him like the plague if you think my suspicions have any real basis. He sells Sony @Rs.16/ and Moser Baer @Rs.15/. Don't have any use for bulk so i buy 2 or 3 at a time whenever i need them.
Edit: slammed down the defective DVD on his counter, told him off about it, and walked away, the slimy toad didn't even bat an eyelid, please tell me how i can expose and 'budnaam' his shop on all relevant blogs..
