    Default Solid State Drives

Solid State Drives (or SSDs) had come to the market more than an year ago. At that time they were way way too expensive for almost anyone to buy. But now, prices are less than half of the initial prices, they are much more affordable (but still very costly).

There are many who have jumped in to the SSD market, like Intel, OCZ, Kingston, Transcend , Corsair and many more. They come in all sizes, from 8GB to 1TB(which costs a whooping $3900 !)
Intel is one of the best manufacturers of SSDs and their SSDs are know to be the fastest and most reliable in the market.

SSDs can really improve performance of your PC in certain areas like the boot time is reduced to a few seconds. There is not much advantage when it comes to gaming though.

SSD is still new technology and is still far to costly for most of us. The drives have a certain lifespan after which they just die.

I really hope 2010 is the year in which SSDs really go mainstream and become more affordable. This does seem to be possible as more players are coming in to the market like Seagate, who just launched their series of SSDs called the Pulsar, would really bring a lot of competition in to this segment and will at the end be better for the consumer.

Looking good but what are the price specifications because last time when I heard about them price was too high compared to the qualities of the SSDs.

    hi,

these things are awesome however i can see there being problems with the new technology since its so new. im going to stick to good old faithfull hard disks for a while and let the technology problems get ironed out.

    thanks,
    kevin
