    Default Best Desktop Speakers

Here i will suggest some of the good speaker sets out there. I will Include both 5.1 and 2.1 speaker system at different price ranges.

    Logitech Z-4 2.1 Speaker system:

These 2.1 speakers have good sound quality. It has one active driver and 2 pressure drivers that provide overall good and complete sound. It comes with a wired remote (control pod) which has an AUX input too, so you can hook it up to you iPod.
These satellites are rated at 17W RMS (8.5W x 2) and the subwoofer is 23W RMS. These are enough for a small to medium size room. At a price of around Rs 4500, these provide great quality music.

Altec Lansing MX5021 2.1 Speaker System:

This is one of my favorites, this system is THX certified, which basically means that it will provide you a really really good audio experience. It comes with a wired control pod and a wireless remote too. The satellites are rated at 40W RMS(20W x 2) and a 50W RMS subwoofer. The only downside I see in the system is that the system is pretty big and bulky. If you have the space for it, its a prefect choice. With a price of Rs 6600, i would recommend to everyone, even those who want to go for the Z-4, I would suggest that you some how increase you budget and go for this set.

    Logitech X-540 5.1 Speaker System:

These are great value for money speakers for those who seek a 5.1 surround experience. Each satellite is rated at 7.4W each and the center channel is rated at 15.4W ! Thats plenty of power for all you games. The subwoofer is rated at 25W, making the full system a 70W RMS system. This system comes with a control pod which also has the AUX input for your MP3 player. At a price of about Rs 5500, this is a really good 5.1 system, you can even use it for a home theater system in a relatively small room with your HTPC if you are on a slim budget.

    Logitech Z-5500 5.1 Speaker System:

This is one of the best speaker system you can buy for you PC, this THX certified system looks really great and performs even better. The satellite are rated at 64W each and the center channel is 69W. The subwoofer is rated at 188W , which makes 505W RMS in total. It comes with a control panel and a wireless remote. At a price of Rs18,000 , it does cost a bomb, but it is worth the money. The only downside, apart from its price is that the LED backlight of the control panel is know to die after about an year of use.

I hope you guys find it useful, please do let me know if you have any suggestions or any questions.

Its got a front panel audio hub too so you cant really blame them. You are also paying for the "fatality" brand lol.

have a look at these Good sound cards (Best Sound Cards)

If you don't know how to connect your 5.1 PC speakers to the onboard sound card without SPDIF, here is the way to do it:

The back of the Sub or control pod will have these connections:

now, connect the green port to the green one of your onboard sound card, black to blue (or black) and orange to pink(or yellow) on the onboard audio.

    use cables like these:

These cables are generally provided with the speakers itself.

    its that simple

    Some very good speakers.

In my opinion, 2.1 speakers are good enough.

If you go for 5.1, how will you set up the speakers, especially the rear ones? I say this because, usually our desk at home is in one corner of the room. There is no place to fix the rear speakers - the rear wall is too far away and it will be very awkward to fix rear speakers on some kind of floor stands.

Connecting the speakers to your system should be very easy as can be seen from previous post by rajan.
