Sound Quality, its a really subjective thing. What I may love, you may hate it ! Hence, there will be a difference of opinion and I would really like it if you could suggest some Sound cards that you feel are good for the price.

These days most of the motherboards come good onboard audio and is good enough for most. For people who need better quality, need an add-on Sound Card. Here are a few (read again, few) of the good sound cards in the market.

ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channel Sound card (PCI Express x1 interface)



One of the better cards at a decent price, the XONAR DX is a good card for those who want something better than onboard audio without burning a huge hole in the pocket ! Its got great SNR and decent head phone amplification it comes with an SPDIF optical out adapter too. Priced at $89 (Rs5000 in india) it provides good value.


HT | OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Channel Sound Card (PCI Interface)



Another really good card, the HT| Omega Striker provides you really good audio quality. It comes with SDPIF coaxial and Optical (In and Out). Its easy to install and has good windows 7 support. Sadly, its really hard to find in india. In the US, its $89.

AuzenTech AZT-FORTE X-Fi Forte 7.1 Channel Sound card (PCI Express x1 Interface)



One of the best cards money can buy, the FORTE provides excellent audio quality in Movies, Music and Games. It has a good headphone amp, so you can easily use 150 ohm (or more) head phones without having any issues of low volume. Very hard to find in india, but you can get it from many online stores in the US for $140.

Have you not considered sound cards from Creative ? creative is one of the best sound card makers.

Which sound card will suite best if 1 want a 5.1 and great quality sound.

ASUS Xonar is best among these three but its gaming sound card. What's your budget?
