Might be a case of browser hijack. Change your default browser to Firefox or Opera and then try. A scan with CA Yahoo Antispy may also help.

Check whether OE or Outlook or Yahoo messenger opens .
you have FireFOx browser try as suggested above
IF IE hangs without any error message,( (check in FILE not offline mode )
Try in SAFE MODE with internet connection.

Try a System Restore to a date, your System functioned normally.

    Hi Friend,
I would suggest you to run some powerful antivirus to your system. Which Antivirus are you are using ? I recommend Kaspersky Antivirus with its latest version. Check whether the problem is solved with this..If not, then try using some other web-browser like Opera or Mozilla Firefox.

    Thanks,
    James

considering windows xp and classic view in control panel,
go to control panel >> internet options,
go to advanced tab >> there will be a check box named: -

    "Enable 3rd party browser extensions"

    deselect / uncheck it.

    apply >> ok >>
close out of all windows, and start internet explorer.
    should work fine!!!
