Cool NEC triples USB 3.0 Speeds !

Engineers at NEC have found a way to boost the speed at which data can be transfered over USB to 16Gb/s. the technology increases the upper speed limit of USB 3.0 from 5Gb/s to 16Gb/s, that's more than 3 times !

The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 uses something known as 'adaptive equalisation' to improve the stability of the signal which allows Data to be transfered at higher speeds without the risk of data corruption.

This technology only exists in prototype form and NEC are soon going to be ale to promote it under USB brand. If it is as good as they claim it to be, these speeds should become a market standard soon.

    see this for correct speeds
The “SuperSpeed” USB 3.0 specification, as finalised, offers data transfer rates of up to ten times that offered by “High Speed” USB 2.0. To use figures quoted by Microsoft during the WinHEC 2008 conference, the new specification will transfer 25GB of data – co-incidentally the average size of a high-definition film – in around seventy seconds, compared fourteen minutes for USB 2.0 and a yawnsome nine hours for the original USB spec
The new USB specification promises to shift 25GB in a speedy 70 seconds - so long as the device on the other end can cope

What you have quoted are the speeds on normal USB 3.0 . The one I am talking about is different. Its another implementation of USB 3.0 which makes it even faster. In this one, 25GB can be theoretically transfered in around 20 seconds.
