Floppy disks once used to play an important part as a storage medium for files, helping in copying files from one computer to another .
Today floppy disks are rarely used because there are better and more reliable storage mediums available like the Rewritable Cds and dvds and pen drives.
Floppy disks used to be a 3.5 inches removable storage media device which had limited storage capacity not suitable for graphical or video storage. These drives where widely used in 1980’s and early 90’s for their sole advantage of being cheap. The floppy drives always had the risk of data being lost if proper care wasn’t taken.
Today most laptops and desktop computers don’t come with a floppy disk drive making it clear that floppy drives are no longer widely used. Pen drives and DVDs which have replaced the traditional floppies have high storage capacities and more convenient and comfortable with portability. The small files stored on a floppy can easily be transferred from one computer to another or anywhere else using internet or Bluetooth technology.
I myself haven’t used a floppy disk for atleast 3 years now and it would be quite difficult or even impossible to locate even a single floppy disk at my place. But some people still use floppies to store small documents and booting windows and other such stuff.
So are you one of those who still uses floppies ???
