Default How do you clean your computer screen?

I find cleaning my computer monitor quite a task, I use soft cloths to clean them, but this always leaves a mark on them of little fluffy parts. I tried using a damp cloth but again there is that mark problem, where you can see that a wet cloth has been used to clean it. It the same with using tissues, they leave this white fluffy thing on the screens. I dont want to ruin my computer screen, so try not to experiment or use chemicals.

I want to know how do you clean your computer screens, what do you use and how often do you clean your computer screen.

I use a screen cleaning solution purchased from a stationary shop or Colin cleaner to clean my laptop's screen. I clean it using my discarded cotton handkerchief.

When it becomes dry, I wipe out any remaining particles using the cheesecloth that comes with the sunglasses and spectacles.

I thought Colin cleaner should not be used on screens, which is why I never used them.

I never thought of the cloths you get with sunglasses. They clean sunglasses really well so should work perfectly fine for computer screens too.

I've used Colin cleaner only when I didn't have the solution. However, I had no idea that it shouldn't be used on screens.

Yeah, cheesecloth is pretty handy.. It shines the screen well.. I use it to clean my mobile too!

Use a good paper napkin. Monitor cleaner solutions are available though expensive for no rhyme or reason. Colin can be used as a last resort. Colin can be safely used on CRT monitors as the outer surface is glass.

I have never used anything cleaning liquids or anything. I just use a tissue thats all. Cleaning liquids for a computer screen lol I am not spending my money on any of those. I would rather use a moist tissue instead. Colin and other cleaners are acidic if I am not wrong and can leave permanent marks on delicate screen surfaces. As just4kix said above a CRT monitor can be cleaned with colin or any other cleaner as the surface is glass.

Well, my laptop is white in color.. so I do have to use the cleaning solution to clean the keyboard at least. While cleaning the keyboard, I can't ignore the screen. However, it's a once in a month or so affair.

White in color, so you have make sure you use something good to clean it with, as marks would easily show up on white.

I use a soft cotton cloth to clean my laptop screen, it works fine.

@ Neetu - you said you use a soft cloth, just make sure its a pure cotton cloth, that way you wont have those furry bits left behind.

I use a soft cloth to wipe off dust. Then spray the screen cleaning liquid and then wipe it down with a clean cloth.

Using the water squeezed cloth, does that not leave water marks on the screen? Because if its dipped in water and you squeeze out the water you will still have some % of water in the cloth.

You can purchase a special cloth for cleaning television and computer screens. Its a scothbrite brand, and they are not too expensive but clean your screen really well.
