Thread: dvds reading problem!!??

hi guys.. i usually have this problem.. like if i copy dvd i will be abe to read it in my lappy for some i guess some 2 to 3 months.. then it wont be readable only.. some or the other error will come..even though there wont be any scratches.. i use nero..

receently i used windows burner in my friends hp pavilion note book.. burned a dvd ,, checked TWICE in his laptop.. now when i brought home.. i saw.. not readable in my lappy.... i dont know what is wrong..when i checked in some other desktop.. it worked(thought some data was not readable)

even if i simply copy dvd,,, it doesnt get read..

one last question.. do dvd take little time to read?? like it for me it takes almost 5 mins to appear tht auto play window...


I DONT KNOW WHERE IS THE PROBLEM.....


1 IN DVDS>
2 IN DVD WRITING
3 LAPTOP LENS?


pl tell me what should i do..is ther any kind of setting tht i am missing for my dvd drive??:surrender::48::48:

i think the problem's with your DVD writer...

how old is it??
how many dvd/cd's have u burned??
which brand??

well dvd riter is like with my laptop.. its some 9 to 10 months old... i dont burn dvds much.. as due to such problems.. but one thing is sure... i never had any problem with burning cds.... then still u think it can be problem with dvd riter??

my laptop is still in warranty period..


the thing is this is such dumb problem i find.. like how can i explain to care center also.. if i go with burned dvd... and show its not readable.. they will defenately tell me.. tht u must not have copied dvd correctly.. and show his some other dvd which might work.. and later on tell me tht its working correctly.. what to do...

yaaa...can u boot from ur CD's..like xp,ubuntu or anthing..

ya tht works normally... thts the thing.. i feel very dumb of it man.. i cant guess only where is the problem..


its like if i start burning dvd.. it takes some 20 mins to complete.. in between i can literally feel.. tht dvd is not runnig at same speed.. for some time it will revolve very fast....zzzzzzz... then speed will decrease.. z z z z z z.... again will move fast.. (can make out.... keeping hand over dvd region in lappy normally)..


many times its like it dvd 1st will run very fast trying to read.. then suddenly one "crrrrik" sound will come.. then shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit............ i come to know .. cd some error ...

did u use some useless cheap DVDs in the first place.
doctor saab dont be so kanjoos get better DVDs.
serously i used to buy cheap DVDs before and before you know it, they were useless.

Thats correct... cheap dvds spell doom... and use dvd cleaner... in case of lens getting full of dust... it does the trick...

yes i use useless cheap dvds only.. lol..but i dont use scratched ones or damaged ones.. which can damage my dvd riter lens.. still tell me what precaution shuld i take??

oho u thing u can buy the cheap ones and use it forever, and the scratches are not like mega gigantic scratches always.
take the dental lens of yours and look, u ll see the microscopic ones that can cause havoc.

well........ but like even good ones are no better for me.. before i used to get good ones only.. but same problem happend... then i got normal slightly cheaper ones.. tht also same problem...


and as u toking abt minor scratches and all tht can create havok.. why not cds? i mean i use so many cds with lots of scratches.. have noticed.. it reads well and even faster then dvd.....

i burned a dvd some two days back... from my friends lappy using windows in bulild burner.. i came home.. checked it.. error.. cant read the dvd... u think minor scratches in 2 days can happen .. leads to error... oh pl

Ok i am back ... you people taking bout cheap useless DVDs ... i have a doubt what do you call a useless cheap DVD ?? .....

i agree.. cheap ones dont last for long time.. but for not atleast a week also.. i just burned a dvd... now not working.. not a single scratch...

and how come if i put same dvd in my friends comp.. it reads well..
this is what i the point is..............

useless cheap DVD's means the same china made cheap stuff which can even dammage lens and are good for nothing that same which we get for 5-7 rupees

I am not giving any names here, lest i be sued
but i have had some bad experience with DVDs from some big names.
