    Its Damn simple buddy

    1) just change the extension .docx to .dox

    that's it ur done.

    2) Another method- If ur using new version installed u will have the options to save in word 93-2003 document(.doc) or in new version (.docx)

Install this: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack

It's a 27 MB file. After installing you will be able to open Office 2007 formats in Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003.

Word 2007 has the option in setting to select default save settings, change them to format before 2003 and its done to convert the docx file open the docx files and use save as option it gives option compatible with Word 97-2003. No need for any converters.

Everybody using word 2007 faces this problem in the start and they come to know only when they try to open them on systems that have old versions of Word.

The above method does nt work ... dont try it for any format .docx .odt .pptx etc .... openoffice and MS office ppl are not so jobless that they ll release the same format under different names .....

They may contain fonts /new objects/properties etc that wont be supported in other formats ..... Renaming will not solve the problem

When using MS 2007 its always a god idea to save files ur planning to share with somebody else using the save as Word 99-03 document option .But advanced functionalities of Office 2007 that u used in the document will be disabled/erased

I use OpenOffice. It can open docx files as well as doc files and can save in MS-Office 2003 format. It also can directly create a PDF copy. And its free.

    this definitely will help:

There are few ways through which you can convert the DOCX files into DOC format, so that they can be opened using older version of Microsoft Office or may be with OpenOffice.Org :

    1. Convert the file using ZamZar : You can simply go on ZamZar.com & then upload the DOCX file and then select the option of exporting it to DOC format.

    2. Convert using DOCX2DOC : Another online converter and this one is specifically for converting the files from DOCX to DOC. Visit DOCX2DOC.COM

    3. Compatibility pack by Microsoft : You may download the compatibility pack from Microsoft which will allow you to open, edit and save the DOCX format in the older version of MS Office.
    4. Convert using the OpenOffice.org : You can also open the DOCX file in OpenOffice.org but that too with the help of the converter. You’ll need to download this extension and then only you’ll be able to convert the file. Found via thedailyblahblah blog.

So, these are the ways through which you can easily convert the DOCX documents into DOC format. Subscribe for the newsletter for more tips and tricks like these!
