hi,

I have a blog with blogspot. I am not much happy with the current theme. Would like to change it. Can you please help me find some good professional themes. Also I want to keep my followers and poll gadget intact. Please let me know if I will loose the gadgets/followers if I switch to the new theme.

Most custom templates will not remove the followers widget. however they can delete the poll widget. You will have to manually add the lost widgets after they are lost on applying the new template. It will take a bit of time, but you wont eventually loose anything. You can always add the followers widget from blogger widget options.

Now, coming to the point of new themes(templates rather). A google search for "Free Blogger Templates" will yield many results. You just need to download the XML template and upload it in you blog. I hope you know this process.

Now, getting a perfect template according to your choice is almost impossible. You wont like everything about a particular template. At least this happened with me. You will have to tweak the template yourself. It will need a little bit of knowledge of CSS and Javascript. Even without the knowledge of these, if you follow the patterns and format of the Template code, you can tweak it by Hit-and-Trial method.

Also, read some Guides, Tutorials on Blogger Templates making/tweaking. google search again will yield any results. I had some very good blogger guides/tutorials/articles etc etc bookmarked. lost them recently as accidently uninstalled the browser without taking backup. Will try to find them again and share here.

Will the followers will be retained after readding the widgets ?

If, the new template has the followers widget embedded in it, it wont be lost. Even if you loose the followers widget after applying the new template, you can add it again by:

- Going to "layout"
- click "Add a Gadget" in your preferred position
- and select "Followers" from the list of default widgets of blogger. Followers will be the first widget in the list. You wont loose your present followers.

Always follow this: Before making any change to the blogger template, take a backup of your current template. In case, there is some problem, you can always move back to the previous proper state. Its like system restore.

To take a backup:

- go to "layout"
- "Edit HTML"
- you will find this: Before editing your template, you may want to save a copy of it. Download Full Template
- Click on "Download Full Template" and save your current template.
