C2D is faster than dual core, even if its frequency is less. if want to know the difference, you have to study their architecture in detail.

There is not much difference between a pentium dual core and a core 2 duo. They are 2 different brand names. The basic achitecture is the same. The core2duo series is higher performance and has better features, also costs more.Dual core has less features and cache and so is cheaper. Its something like a dell Studio XPS and an XPS.
