Intel Corporation is about to launch new solid-state drives based on multi-level cell NAND flash technology for laptop and desktop computers. The drives are called Intel® X18-M and X25-M. These new high-performing data storage devices would provide a new level to the system responsiveness in a lightweight, rugged, low-power package that can replace traditional hard disk drives. These would be validated only for the Intel-based computers. This has several advantages over traditional ones; they have faster overall system response, boot and resume times. They run cooler and quieter and more reliable. They help in maximizing the efficiency of processors and also increase storage system performance by nine times. They are available in 80 GB capacities.
