I use it however I only use it for mail and dont use all the other fancy stuff like calendar etc. It works great for the functions that I use it for.

I never used Microsoft Outlook Express ever. I always used yahoo or hotmail for sending and receiving my emails. Infact is there any chance that i can delete it from my computer.

I have configured my gmail account with my outlook express, so I don't have to login to my gmail account every time, i need to check my mails. I also can read my mails offline too, since the mails will be downloaded to outlook express and can be read at anytime I want. I also can add my own custumized mails and signature lines when using it.

You can configure you gmail with outlook express, instructions given here

I have never used Microsoft Outlook. I rather like to use other email account service provider which as MSN, Yahoo and Google as email service from them is more easy to use and more over it is also very muc reliable.

Microsoft Outlook is quite robust and easiest to use. Express Outlook is a thin client version of MS-Outlook and not very flexible. But again it is easy to use. Express is not very secure either.

Microsoft Outlook is the best e-mail client apart from Lotus Notes. If that was not the case most corporates would have abandoned it. MSN, Yahoo, Google cannot compare to MS-Outlook for features.

Outlook Express is not a Email provider ....you can call it as an Email Manager.
Outlook Express allows you to configure all those existing email account that you have on say gmail, hotmail ,yahoo ....in one interface.

Even i do like it ....but the only fault being i could never configure my Hotmail Account to it.
I guess it requires a paid account of Hotmail to configure into Outlook Express.
If i am wrong please correct me.
Has anyone configured Hotmail on Outlook Express.

POP3 is a service that must be enabled from the source e-mail provider, e.g., Yahoo, Rediff, Gmail, etc. Most of them disable this service because then no one uses their own interface that contains ad's. Thus they are potentially deprived of the income. If you pay for POP3 service, then they will enable it for you.

    Default Nope

    I've never used/tried Outlook.

    • Happily using Thunderbird for a long time with IMAP for gmail.
    • It has a built in RSS reader option too.
    • One could use Lightning extension, if there is a need to organize todo's/other things or for time management.
