AVG Antivirus which sells pro version for $29. But now you can download it for free it seems. You will get an automatic serial number when you install it. Note this is not a pirated software but originally approved by avg itself.

is that auto update from the net , and when the key will expired. since i have good experience with NOD32 , i have say goodbye to AVG.

such malware and virus could not be protected with it.

I do not think that this is legal as per according to the AVG. This is illegal to do and more over it could also be said as software piracy so be careful as of what you do.

There are two versions of AVG - free version and paid version. Paid version is full fledged version which contains many other features such as Anti-Spy, Internet Security, etc. whereas the free version contains Anti-Virus only. As stated by xwhyz the paid version is $29.

The free version is completely legal and its comes with a serial number that works for free version only. I have been using AVG Free for over a year and I continue to get updates over the internet. AVG is not "right up there" with the best of the breed AV s/w such as McAfee, etc. but it does work very well. I take my security very seriously and I will definitely recommend:

a) Genuine Windows XP with SP2 (SP3 is also available). Genuine Windows is available for Rs. 6495/- and you can buy this over the internet. You will get a product key immediately and a CD will be shipped from Singapore and delivered to you within a week. Genuine Windows make you eligible for all Microsoft Updates that are so crucial for protection, one of them being Malicious Software Removal tool.

b) With WGA (Windows Geniune Advantage), you can also get Windows Defender (anti-spy) for free.

c) You can install AVG Free for virus protection.

So all those who have pirated XP, I sincerely advise you to go genuine. I do not think Rs. 6495/- for Windows is such a bad deal.

I had been using Free version of AVG and i would say that it is not that much of a good thing. I would say that it would be nic to get a paid version as you would have a lot of other features and more over you would be update for every thing which would be a better way to protect your computer.

Free version also have regualar Antivirus update but in the paid version a perosn would also have spyware and other features. if someone just want a good free antivirus then this is the best one to go with.

I am using the same Antivirus and i would also say that it is the best free antivirus one can get right now.. as one can have regualr updates which is something really importantant..

IMO...AVG is simply the worst AV in the market...i tried the professional for 3 days & left it with the gr8 disappointment. just my opinion.
