I dont clearly understand your query. You have these movies in your pc and want to write it into dvd or what. If that is the case use nero to write these files as data dvd and it will work, i have tried it.

I understand the question. Aruncse30 wants to write 2 movies to one DVD but both movies should be playable in a DVD player (either in PC or standalone). A movie DVD has a folder called VIDEO_TS. The player looks for this folder and from that folder it reads the file VIDEO_TS.IFO. This IFO file tells the player the entry point, root menu, sub-menus, chapters, etc.

If there are two movies there will be two such folders (VIDEO_TS) and two such files (VIDEO_TS.IFO) as can be seen above. This obviously is not possible normally. If the two movies are just copied/burned using Nero, etc. it will make a data DVD and not a movie DVD.

However, it is possible to have multiple movies on the same disk. There are freeware programs such as IFOEDIT that can achieve this. However IFOEDIT is not very simple to use and is verrrrrrrrrry technical. The other option is a shareware program called TMPG DVD Author.

@aruncse30, Hi pal, sometime ago I had requested you to look at this site: VideoHelp.com - Forum, Guides, Tools and hardware lists. This site is a warehouse of info on video. You will find many solutions here.

Also I did not do a sum of the bytes of the two movies you mentioned above. Will they fit into one DVD (4.7GB)? Else you may have to go in for DVD-DL (9.4 GB)

    Smile Higher capacity DVD available?

Hi, I have a 8 GB .mkv movie file, and I am stuck with it. I found a splitter on the net called mkvmerge, and I split the files into two pieces. But suppose I want to write the whole movie on one DVD, are there any higher capacity DVDs available, the 9 GB ones I think, which are not double layer (bcoz I think my DVD writer won't play/record double layer). What is the cost of such DVDs, is it around 250 rs, as a friend of mine told me? Then it would be cheaper to burn two DVDs at rs 15 each.
And since I am asking this, how do I burn the movie so that I can watch it on my DVD player. The file is .mkv; do DVD players detect it? I burned the first part of the movie (4 GB) onto a DVD as data disk, and tried it on the DVD player, and it said unknown format.
Now I am sitting with that movie taking up so much of my HD space.

    1. AfterDawn.com: Guides: How to play MKV files
    2. how do i burn a .mkv file to DVD?
