    Default DVD Not writing

I recently purchased a sony dvd writer and ever since i installed i could not write from my pc, but it works fine in other pc's. I have a ide port to connet dvd writer and i checked my device manager and all is perfect and i dont know what's wrong with it. It also reads very slowly. I changed the ide cable too.

What could be wrong, i could not write the movies i have my hdd right now and hence in a precarius situation, can someone help me.

    Here are a few suggestions:

    1. A PC has two IDE channels - primary (where your boot HDD resides) and secondary. Each channel can support two disk drives. Try mounting the DVD drive on the secondary channels - connector 1 or connector 2.

    2. If that does not work try to put it on primary channel - connector 2. Connector 1 of the 40/80 pin flat cable connector will be connected to the hard (boot) disk - so can't use that.

    3. Enable DNA.

If nothing works, return it and buy an external USB powered writer which will give you better flexibility.
