Thread: Anyone tried google web accelerator?

I came to know about this tool, google web accelerator, which actually increases the speed of the browsing speed by way of letting us access the internet and browse through the google server. I wonder whether anyone has tried it? I am rather skeptical about it and a bit hesitant to install it fearing it might further slow down my speed? can someone share light on this?

ya i have tried google web accelerator and its a very light tool which integrates with your web browser.
it is really not very good to use as i was using this tool for about 1 month and in one months time it saved my 11mins of web browsing (as per data in google web accelerator)
and my total time for that month was about 140 hours...

so saving 11 mins in 140 hours or browsing can not make a big difference and infact i was unable to feel any difference

if you want you can use it..

seems like it's no good, saving 11 minutes on 140 hours .... what a waste

ya thats correct but i think its a good application for dialup users... may be they can save more than this on dialup..

i have tried it and did not see any difference in anything

i dont think it is of any use to me, so uninstalled it

yes please as i already said in my previous post it can be a good option for dialup users but for BB connection we really can not feel any difference... and in broadband connection saving 10-15 minutes in a month can not make any difference but in dialup it may save some connection time..

so its really not recomended for BB users..

smoothvibes said right.. i ve tried,, no difference in speed..uninstalled since ages.. not useful for us.. ie BB users..

I have used many of the web accelators, but no one is any good.

Even I used it. But did't see any difference in the speed of browsing.

ya it doesnt make any difference at all even i tried it out real waste.

I have not tried web accelarator. However I've tried google gears along with my wordpress blog (Genuine Tips). I did recognize some improvement in the speed, but not much.

yeah..i dont think we need more than 256kbps for browsing normal sites (simple sites)
