Unhappy Hard Disk Data Recovery after platter is broken ???

Very stupid question to ask but is it possible to do data recovery after platter is broken ??? I have a 160Gb which fell from a height of 2 feet. I tried to run it and then there was some sound from it (not click of death), i immediately powered off. Then i felt something moving inside. Anyway, i showed it at recovery center called Stellar in Nehru Place New Delhi. They asked Rs.28500 for it. I rejected it and then there is a dealer listed it at ad site by the name of HDRC. They kept it for 2 weeks and returned it as is, and told me that it required some part to open the hard disk and check it. They told me they need to replace the motor with that part. Anyway, i gave to a 3rd recovery center and i am still to get a response from them. Now, i want to ask if the platter is broken in a Hard disk, is there any chance that data can be recovered.

i don't think that the platter will be broken as it fell from 2 feet
As platter are made of metal and will not break that easily

But yes the cost of data recover is very high
I think that you will have to spend at least Rs 25K to get the data back if you want recovery company to give you the data

And yes did i mentioned that they will not be able to give you the hard drive back after data recovery

this is generally used in offices where some big guys data which is very important is lost due to hdd failure

they do not give the hdd back as they destroy the hard drive
generally they remove the platter and mount it on some other system and get the data out

so your hdd will be destroyed in that process but your data will be give to you

Hi, it’s very big problem that you have. I don’t think it can be solved but I know a data recovery service provider called DiskEmergency it provides many ways to recover data from disk. You can submit your problem online and get solution in short time. Hope this will work out for you.
    Good luck!

I got the response from the 3rd person. He told me, 'sorry, we could save your data. Period! '
