I've used Firefox 2.0.0.8 on Linux FC-8 for quite a while, excellent performance.
If you want to change FF's default configuration, dont waste time spending looking for the .conf file to edit.
Instead, launch the browser and in the the address bar type 'about:config' (without the quotes)
You can filter,set,review all the parameters instantly, much better than the usual vi
