Skype is a software that allows us to make telephone calls over the Internet. I think its not free.We need to shell out some money for making calls abroad.

Skype is not free
you need to have some credit in your account
From UK and US to india is expensive from US i think it is 17 cents per min
but from india to US is really cheap, it is 2 cents per min

but skype to skype calls that is PC to PC is free

What you think that Skype is cheap for making calls from India is not true at all.

Note that you are sitting in India making the call. But your skype account is in Europe and you are really making a call from Europe to wherever. And that is the reason why it appears cheap. Of course, to the user it makes no difference.

If you make a call on Skype to India, you are making a call from Europe to India and then it works more expensive.

Same is true of Yahoo Voice also except that Yahoo Voice account is based in USA and all Yahoo calls originate from USA. That is another reason why Yahoo is cheaper than Skype.

Certainly, Skype isn't good to make calls to India if u r in India. But to most other parts of world its nice... And the service is good too... Provided u've a decent broadband...

what i meant was making call from india is cheaper than making calls from US to india

I think Skype service is really good. Voice quality is better that yahoo

I use skype webcam service and find it much much better that yahoo
