Default Computer Security – Always Be On Your Guard

All of us enjoy the benefits of the latest technology, high-speed internet connection, ability to gather all kinds of information instantly, communicate with people from all over the world, online entertainment, convenient shopping, etc. The internet that has changed the entire world and our life style so much has also become one of the sources of extreme security threats.

As long as our computers were just home computers or office computers that were not connected to the internet but just to the local network, we did not have any security issues. The security issues were limited just to screening the people that used our network in our premises. It was much easier to have control over the information that we had in our computers. However, a computer that is not connected to the internet today will be much limited in its usage. It will lose all its glory, the fullest potential of our computer will be realized only with the accompaniment of the internet. Unfortunately, the internet that increases the potential of our computers opens the floodgate of endless security problems.

In an effort to create paperless offices, we store all vital information in our computers. The information that we have in our computers is highly valuable. We store variety of data in our computers including, our personal information, bank account details credit card information, savings and property information and related documents, contact details of our family and friends, office files, customer information, copyrighted and confidential information, etc. When we are connected to the internet, it is easy for anyone to eavesdrop in to our computer and our network without our knowledge, gather all the valuable information, and misuse them. There are number of people who have suffered identity thefts and monetary loss.

Therefore, we cannot stress enough the importance of the need for computer security. As soon as you get your internet connection, you must make sure to get reliable antivirus software and antispyware products such as Norton Antivirus, McAfee antivirus and intrusion prevention software or something similar. Never try to save your money on your computer security because you cannot afford to lose valuable data. At times, you might lose your customer data for which you are liable, to undesirable elements of the society and lose lawsuits for being careless with sensitive customer information. Therefore, you must never take your computer security for granted you should always be on your guards because you do not know who is watching your online movements. Without the protection of all these software products people can sneak in to your computers and even, install unwanted software that will transmit your online whereabouts, your passwords and other crucial information in stealth mode. Your computer can even crash and become unusable. You just need to think of the loss and the amount of money you need to spend to replace your computer and to restore the data that you had in your computer. To save yourself from all these problems you must keep yourself protected from day one.

Some times even the best of anti-viruses cannot protect your system from damage.

So it would be wise to keep your system backed up , if feasible in a read only media , to prevent virus spreading from infecting it.

( And if you are like me , you can share all your non-personal data with your reliable friends by force or by will and thus be assured of data redundancy. Your personal data can be stored on any of the free file hosting sites or in an optical media. )
