Default Do you use file/disk encryption software?

If you download a lot of stuff from internet, probably violating copyrights when/if you download music, movies and/or games, do you think you will be better off against any anti-piracy action if you encrypted your files/disk? Do you think such a use of the encryption utilities is a legitimate use?

Do you have privacy requirements for your personal data or is it someone else's data (a client's source code and application for example) you want to protect (or both)?

Or would you rather use other solutions than file/disk encryption software? If yes, for what reasons (complexity? performance? or do you think such software is not really secure? any other reason?)

Or, are you the type who does not care?

Or, do you have no data to protect from any prying eyes?

If you do care, however, which software do you use for this? And who do you want to protect against - theft of your data-containing device or potential threat from authorities/activists?

    Too many questions pal.... lol

In my college days I learnt about using PGP from one of lecturer... But I never felt the need to encrypt my data yet... So, as of now.. I am fine without it...

Atmost i would have used protocol encryption in utorrent though my opinion is that it does not help anyway against riaa or mpaa coz if they can log ur ip that enough evidence to incriminate you.

As for personal privacy of my files i've never bothered, but if i wanted to i would rather use steganography...

And protect data from what prying eyes? Unless your PC ports (0 to 1023) are open to internet, no one can pry into your hard disk.
Did u use any torrents while you were there ?

Most, if not many of microsoft's updates say that " an exploit was detected which could give a hacker unrestricted access to your computer", even if your windows is uptodate there can be many vulnaribilities in other s/w.

so i dunno how you can be so sure.

Some of the software listed in the poll also support some of the steganography techniques; though you say you are not interested in that at the moment, someone else might be.
