    Default Test UR Antivirus

    Open notepad and paste this:

    X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

    Save it as eicar.com

Your Anti-virus will then either not let you save it of when you have saved it will remove it for you.

Don't worry about it. European Institute for Computer Anti-virus Research (EICAR) have got people to program Anti-Virus to recognise this as a threat (even tough its completely harmless)

    Working with KIS 7.0.0.125

I think that all AVs will recognize it as a threat as its as you say programmed to do so.... so how does that show that a particular AV is a good or bad ?

answer is simple......that threat is standard set up by EICAR.......normally all the quality antivirus just follow the standard set by a well know international union.....simply.......it indicates that UR antivirus is following some internationally accepted things.....it has nothing to do with how Good/Bad antivirus is.

McAfee knows better than to waste his time on silly files..........

anyway, my bitdefender 2008 didnt let me save it and also informed me that its just a test file, not a virus.

Wonderful experiment that you can do with your anti virus and know its condition that it is working right or not.
