    Start your pc in safe mode by pressing F8 before the windows logo appears. Now login with the administrator account (which must have been created during setup). Now go to start->run and type "controluserpasswords2" without quotes or go to control panel and select user accounts and remove your password. Now check your user id and reset the password.
    If you have access to limited account on your pc then you can also reset your password. Go to control panel->administrative tools->computer management. Click on users , select your user id and reset your password

    ->Switch on the system.
    ->Press F8.
    ->Select ‘Safe mode’ or ‘Safe mode with networking support’.
    ->Click Administrator.
    ->Start->Run->type ‘command’.
    ->Type ‘net user’ which will display a list of usernames.
    ->Find the one you are looking for, try ‘net user username’ for all.
    ->To reset the password type ‘net user username *’ where username is the username you want to reset.
    ->For no password, leave blank.
    Now, reboot and you can login as that user.

    Have you not set the password for Administrator, at the time of installation.
    If yes(have set a password) then you cannot proceed to
    ->Start->Run->type ‘command’.
    without giving that password.

    And if you know the Admin Password then there is no issue on forgetting the XP password.

    The meaning of my previous post (post 8) is the same..
    that you can not login to the safe mode if you dont know the admin's password..

    Yah... that's right for ->Start->Run->type ‘command’.
    you need to login in to administrator, and if you have pass then no need to go thru command. simply go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
