Default Best antivirus to use ??

I almost tried all antivirus tat i found on web. Got some problem in evey security service

Kaspersky - Problem with the key file activation. Often expires
Avast - Does not detect some trojans even if it is uptodate
AVG - No need to say. Recently there was a technical issue
Norton - Never give it a try as it is the worst among all
McAfee - Takes almost 22% of ur system memory

But i prefer Kaspersky. Eventhough the kwy expires i get new keys everyday on the web. The security system is awesome and did not have even a single virus affecting my system :-)

Anything else u guys suggest ??????????

I am using Avast Home Edition with Zone Alarm Basic Firewall. And never faced any problems from it. Bit-Defender is the best when it comes to detecting viruses. Buy a license.

Kaspersky is the best...and you should pay for it. Kaspersky is also cheap...costs around rs 1100 approx for licenses. Moreover..visit kasperskyindia.com/registration.asp to get 6 months license for free. And after 3 months of using that license, use another email and get 6 months more availing max 9 months. Max possible using this legal trick is 9 months.

If you are not satisfied with the free version, then buying a license is the only way.

You can get a 1 year Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 license for 3 users at Rs. 600 or less. There is not need to buy something else to get Antivirus for free. Antivirus is not that costly.

I have been using AVG for the past couple of years and have never run into any virus issues.

More than the AV that you use it's upto you to make sure that you do not download anything from shady websites and always scan your USB drives...be safe and you'll never be sorry

    @daemonoid

Thats right... U can get Kaspersky's licence for 3 users at the price Archer quoted...

Even I was using Kaspersky's fake keys till 1 yr back... but was fed-up of their blacklist thing... finally purchased key... never regretted...

    Well here goes-

Kaspersky- the 2008 version was the best one ever, i'd stick to it rather than go for the new one
Mcafee- if you've got the hardware specs you can run this(though i dont recommend it)
ESET Nod32 - ow here's a recent shiner, very light and effective, i recommend it
Norton- they really hve upped their game this year, after years of substandard approaches and rram hogging apps, this one really really good, try it

I would also suggest Kaspersky. If you are not planning to get one of the free ones, I would recommend Avira. Many people are satisfied with it. You can use Zonealarm (as Archer has said) or Comodo as your firewall.

For those who want to use legitimate anti virus I too would suggest KAV/KIS coz its very cheap compared to other antivirus.

IMO Commodo is good enough and it has a greater ease of setting permission for programs. Also u can save the preferences for later use which i think is not available in ZA.

If you are not using genuine Windows XP, then buying a Antivirus won't do much good.

don't take this rudely but there is a HUGE difference b/w a hacker and a cracker....if u hve access to some private trackers you may find
    lots of modded installations...(including mine!)

Well I don't think there is any difference.

And Private tracker owners can't check every file for hidden codes, right ?
