Please download and install the trial version of Kaspersky 2009. After installing scan the PC with the software. It will help u get rid of all the malware present in your PC. Buy the software if u like it, its money well spent.

Buddy try out Firefox and let us know is this happening with it. I doubt that your IE is corrupt now because of Virus or some reason...

thanks buddy.... it was indeed a trojan/virus problem....changing my browser to firefox wasn,t of much help.... neither could AVIRA trial version solve the problem.....
so i unistalled quick heal using a different software.....then tried installing free version of kaspersky2009. But to my surprise it refused to install until I uninstalled the AVG 8 which i had stopped using about 5 months back.... I had a tough time uninstalling AVG 8:38:....finally when i got rid of it kaspersky was installed...... it started a full scan of the system......

TO MY HORROR IT DETECTED AROUN 28 VIRUSES , several worms and 68 TROJANS.....
all these had got into my system while quick heal version 10.0 was running ....mind it is a full paid version....it seems the trojans had overrun quickheal and taken over it..... what a DUMBO QUICK HEAL has proved to be ... a total waste of money.........

I have been using quick heal since last 3 months.... I was regularly having problems with it since the day it was installed .....with their latest firewallinstalled you wouldnot be able to access the internet.... so they provided me with an older version........

but then this was a real shocker...... what more the kaspersky was detecting trojans in quickheal installation software and their older version of firewall......my my .....

    STAY AWAY FROM QUICK HEAL.......

AND YES with KASPERSKY 2009 installed, the problem has been solved. The broadband speed has returned ...No probs in accessing the sites ..... the system is faster and is running as smooth as MAKKHAN.....

    THANKS TO KASPERSKY......

why dont u install avast antivirus.its quite good.first use the trial version of any antivirus program then decide which one to buy.dont buy a new software just coz someone asked u to.go to avast.com and try out avast antivirus or else try kaspersky.i ve been using avast and its too good.it gives real time protection.the trial version gives u 60 days of protection then u gotta guy the license key.avast updates every 3 days.sometimes everyday.or else try the kaspersky antivirus program.i dont know how good it is.it may be good.try out the trial version and then buy the software.

Default always avoid ie, keep changing your browser

never use ie. also keep reinstalling your browser every 15 days. now a days, these things work in tandem with you browser.

i think it can be a CONFICKER worm attack. conficker disables access to security websites. you should try these 2 steps
    1: start windows update
    2: go to microsofts`s website microsoft.com

Now if windows update fails and your pc dos,nt open microsoft.com, this means you are really infected by CONFICKER. than you should try this page. it has information regarding conficker removal

    darfuns.com/remove-virus-w32-conficker-dv-worm-manully/

    Good Luck
O Sorry, and if you can open microsoft.com and windows update starts successfully, than try an Anti Spyware software.

    Cheeru,

as tsforce told, the behaviour seems to be Conficker or downadup (both denotes same worm. it was identified by more than 1 security company at same time, thats y two names).
anyhow kaspersky identifies it. but i suggest from my exp to immediately apply relevant operating system patches esp MS 08-067 patch and run Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
