We are aware of virus and spyware. These days newcomers are dominating the scene.

What are KeyLoggers, HiJackers, Parasites & Rootkits ?

How can we deal with these threats?

Pls help with some in depth details on Hijackers and downloaders. Like how they work and all.

Keyloggers are those softwares that monitor ur pc & record every keystroke & email it to the hacker
hijackers are basically browser exploits which change ur browser home page , hosts file on ur pc , dns servers , browser's search engine e.t.c
rootkits are malware programs which try to hide themselves and work in the background so that an average user cant see any noticable changes.the admin account is blocked.
Parasites is a combination of spywares , adwares e.t.c

All these are spywares.....

Did some research myself. Let me share this. Do you want to make sure your net banking password do not fall into wrong hands?

Key loggers identify the keystrokes we make. Like they can understand what i am typing. They cannot read from a secure web page, instead they steal your password from your keyboard.

You will never know if they are present in your computer. They are i think a bit new and have found ways to beat the anti virus.

A simple trick

1. They cannot read your mouse. Exploit this.

If your password is wonderful, then type wonul, now click between n & u. Now type derf. Now you typed wonderful and key logger read as "wonfulderf" .

Isn't this good? If you already know, please share with others.
You need not make one proxy, you can try this in more than one steps. more the no. of steps, more secure you are.

Another method is to use arrow keys. Some say it works.

2. Try an on screen keyboard. Some banks provide built in keyboards.

3. Opt out of "remember password".

4. Use a incognito window. It is a secure window. Google chrome offer this facility.

First of all what is keylogger?

Ans: Keylogger is a software program or hardware device that is used to monitor and log each of the keys a user types into a computer keyboard.
Their main purpose was to find out how the users access the systems and to measure employee productivity. But now a days it is used for illegal work.
To track the password, find out the encryption key and so on and one can find many keylogger software on internet for free of charge.

Now a days keyloggers can capture snapshot and mouse activity. A keylogger normally consists of two files: a DLL which does all the work and an EXE which loads the DLL and sets the hook. Some keyloggers securely turn on the video and audio recorder and transmit all the data they captured over your internet connection. Keylogger can have following features:

It's very difficult to remove Keyloggers, because they contains dozens of files and they reinstall their selves before you uninstall them.

I don't know whether you are game fan, but those who are big fan of games they must be knowing about Half Life2 code leak. It was supposed to release in September 2003, but before it's final release, code was leaked and put on internet. The game had been leaked by German black hat hacker Axel Gembe and he designed one program called Agobot also know as Gaobot which is type of Worm and it may contain keylogger. What are Rootkit?
Rootkit is a malware program (or set of programs) that allow unauthenticated person to gain the root level user privileges and used for the Unix based system and it also hides the fact that system has been compromised. You will find rootkit for Windows, Mac OS and Linux also.

What is Hijacker?
It is also malware program that replaces your browser home page with it's own page. It often happens when people visits site offering some offers or claim that they will remove viruses from your pc and also PORN sites.

We may not be able to detect these softs, but can take some precautions.
First of all, make a backup of your registry. Try to replace it from time to time. Tuneup utilities allow to lock registry. Spies wont be able to make registry entries. I bet you heard about spybot. It can prompt you when there is a modification attempt in registry. You can either allow or deny the changes.

A hijacker/downloader need not redirect you to a web page. To fight these threats, it is made that program can start or install only by a manual prompt. Now what happens is when you click the browser, you may be actually starting the spy.

Check registry >windows>current version>internet settings>.... if you find something here, like a folder with a no. of websites, delete it.

Another way is to log in as a guest. Not sure how effective it can be, but atleast you do not have the right to install the programs.
