Actually it only slows down the system if have less RAM.I used to have 512 MB of RAM and then I had some system lag, but then I upgraded to 1.5 then 2.5GB, and its running fine now.

But again its a good antivirus, and provides an option rare in free antivirus softwares i.e., boot time scan.

So I think that neutralizes all those flaws.

I dont think it really slows down the system... But the latest norton and bitdefender are really light on system resources... Bitdefender takes sth between 15 - 20 mb of ram when real time protection is enabled

    doesn't matter Awards and Certificate.
    It wont delete virus.
its not power full as others.(Kaspersky ,Macafee, Norton, Bitdiffender)
It wont slow down your system because its not powerful.
    i have installed and tried.
If you want secure your PC go for any other AV.

    OK. Please no fights.

If someone expresses a very strong opinion (tending to vitriolic) then it will solicit equally strong replies.

So even if you have strong opinions, please explain the reasons of your favour or dislike with good reasons. Keep personal prejudices away and try to be neutral (Tip: Have a look at CNET, PCMAG, reviews).

Whether avast slows down ur pc, depends on your pc configuration. Anyways i use avira antivir, & found it to be the best 4 me (reason : http://www.av-comparatives.org/).
