Rep Power: 10 | Run ur antivirus scan with only one Ram... i.e. 512 MB... If it restarts... check it with 256 MB.... I've a feeling that either one of ur RAM is faulty or their speed isn't identical... For example, if one of ur RAM is 400 Mhz, the other should be of 400 MHz too... |

| You have to use a higher rated power supply depending say 400w or above. the two memory chips are currently configured to run @ different speeds. You have to change the speed of your 512 mb ram chip to 166 Mhz speed. To do so : 1. as soon as computer stats, enter bios (press f10 or del or esc, as per your BIOS setting) 2. Next seach for the memory settings 3. u should look for something like SPD setting (it can vary with different BIOS) 4. then select the 512 mb chip and select the 167 mhz mhz. 5. save settings and exit. If you can't understand , don't change any settings coz it can give problems. ********* Last edited by Admin; 04-05-09 at 11:22 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| It's pretty hard to say by looking only text files..Actually gmer pointed faulty entry with RED color... Also you need to exclude two entries i.e Sections and IAT/EAT which are right side of the Gmer window...Then press Scan and switch to rootkit window..When scan got completed look for any entry which is bolded out as RED Color in rootkit tab... I'm attaching a pic which shows you which check boxes should be excluded... |

Rep Power: 10 | There you go my friend... Its all wrong in memory... Both stick have different frequencies... One has 166MHz and the other is at 200 MHz.... Follow the steps newprouser told you... Else ask ur local vendor to replace the 512MB RAM with 166MHz or 256MB RAM with 200 MHz! |

| Before doing anything in BIOS i recommend you try scanning with 512 mb Ram only.. Remove that 256 Mb Ram... |

| Yes, may be it is related to RAM. But i bought extra RAM to solve this problem. i tried gmer again, no entries where in red (so was previously). @newprouser " Next seach for the memory settings" i couldn't find any settings in BIOS. Let me list what i found in BIOS (i used del key) CMOS set up Utility Copyright 1984-2005 Award Software Standard CMOS Feature Advanced BIOS feature Integrated peripherals Power management set up PnP/PCI configuration PC health status Frequency/Voltage control I checked all of them. but couldn't find anything related to RAM. The closest was Frequency/Voltage control. But it is tagged as "Change CPU's clock and voltage". I have tune up utilities 2007. Is it useful for this kind of work? I just scanned to see what will happen (offline). After initiating the scan, i tried to open a pic ( i use ACD see). That's all the system restarts. " You have to use a higher rated power supply depending say 400w or above." Can i simply choose any SMPS 400 W and above. Or is there any calculation. |

Just remove either of RAM... Go to my computer right click on it, see it's properties and you'll see which RAM you removed...But that's not the issue...We just need to know whether it completes the scan with one RAM only... | |

| hey that system load /stress thing has got nothing to do with heat... its like all devices require some amount of power to operate... so if u add more devices, u should increase the power too. Jus like as you grow u require more food. *** lemme check the exact procedure for award BIOS and tell. *** IF you plan to remove the ram. you really needn't find out which is 512/256 mb(they are usually written on a sticker on the chip with manufac. name/date etc), jus remove the ram chip. find out which is slot 0 or slot A on ur motherboard (its also written on mother if u look carefully). Computer won't boot if there's no ram in slot 0/A * if ur using carpet in ur place, then its highly likely ur body has static electricity which will damamge computer components. |
