Default CCSVCHST.EXE---showing high processor usage(NORTON related)

CCSVCHST.exe---a norton internet security process shows high processor usage from startup till end.

The taskbar icon for NORTON shows ,"Autoprotect is processing a threat".

    Please help.

Uninstalling the antivirus is the last option for me, don't have much time to uninstall , reinstall and update again.

    Software:
    Xp sp3
    NIS 2008

I did some research on it and found that with few people this is indeed happening... There is a possibility that your windows update is in conflict with symantec live update and norton's scan... and hence both are vying for the resources when you start-up your system causing a deadlock!

    Solution -

    1. Remove Norton. Install Kaspersky or Bitdefender which in my opinion are equally good.

    2. This might help... Turn off symantec live update, scans and windows update. Make it sure that only either one of them is working at a time... i.e. when microsoft update is running, no activity of Norton... and vice-versa...

Try NIS 2009, here is the link

    NIS 2009 - 90 Days trial.

Or Complete collection of the antivirus here

Please read the first post carefully before replying.

"Uninstall and reinstall is the last option."

I intend to find the solution, not the alternative.

What i meant is only an upgrade of the software you use. If your NIS is causing the problem, may be they have fixed it in the later version. As you prefer NIS I shared the latest version I have.

I used NIS 2009 without any problem of this particular file you mentioned. So it is likely something with 2008 version.

The point is I did not face the problem from the beginning, it started just 2 days ago.
