Scan your USB before opening folders. I use both Avira and Adaware to scan.

Disable Autorun option for USB. This helps from injecting virus into PC

    To disable autorun

    1) Click on Start button and go to RUN.

2)Type “gpedit.msc” without quotes in Run.

3)Go to computer configuration-> Administrative Templates -> System

4)Scroll down to “Turn off Autoplay” and double click on it.

5)Now click on the “Enabled” radio button, then for “Turn off Autoplay on” select “All drives”

This will now prevent any virus injecting into PC from USB.

Any standard , uptodate anti-virus is good enough. Eg. Norton, Avira , Bit defender etc. ( i personally find avast and AVG useless, they are able to detect but unable to remove automatically)

I was quite successful with Adaware.

I used bit-defender and eScan end-point security, Both are good.. They ask for password before mounting the device and it's real time monitor can detect virus, You don't need to open the usb drive..
