Default takes more than 8 mins to reboot

i used to surf the net without any anti virus or protection,i used to think if i don't go to any backdoor sites i would never get infected.but one day the inevitable happened. i got some nasty viruses and worms and trojans and keylogger and dialers from some underground site.so i installed avast antivirus and the virus got deleted.then i thought if avast dosent detect all the malacious programs in that case i got to install another antivirus.so i installed avira home edition.also i installed avg free home edition and windows defender as well.

so now i have four antivirus running on my PC.but the downside is my computer got too slow.i takes more than 8-10 mins to reboot and programs have become sluggish to open.my PC hardware config is P 4,3.06 GHZ,512 Mb ddr2,windows XP media center edition sp 2.

my question is do i delete some of the extra antivirus i have installed, and which one, or should i install more RAM?

It's always advisable to use one antivirus at particular time, It obvious that your system take times to boot, Decide which antivirus serve you well and stick to that only..

It is quite possible that some malware is still in control of your system. I advise you to reformat and reinstall Windows.

i am sure there are no malware left on my PC.i used 7 programs to scan for malacious programs.

i also found out that if i disable some of my antiviruses, the PC gets quicker.

so i am modifying my question-which antivirus should i disable
    1.avira
    2.avast
    3.avg
    4.windows defender.

Four antivirsues??usually, After the installation of one, the PC/laptop slows down! having 4 is not a good option at max have 2.

That's what i'm telling you, Go for only one antivirus, I won't suggest windows defender, For the rest of three check the reviews in trusted site, Look for the feature which suit you best i.e user friendly GUI, Low resources, Rating etc and uninstall others, That should solve your problem.

Do not install more than One antivirus.

I use Avira + Adaware + Zone alarm firewall.

    Please note: Adaware is antispyware

You won't be able to delete all the viruses even if you install hundred Antivirus software. Using more than one Antivirus will cause more trouble than the virus and will make it easy for the virus to do it's job while the Antivirus software fight each other.

Avira and Avast both are good. But Avast is more good at stopping virus from infecting. Avira is better at detecting and removing Antivirus. And the scanning process is a lot faster and easier than Avast. AVG and Windows Defender is no good.

If you are not planning to format the Operating System, then install Avira Personal Edition and Spybot S&D or Adaware Free. Or install Avast Free Edition after and Spybot S&D or Adaware Free after a fresh install of Operating System.

    In short

Avira- Detect and remove virus files
Avast- Stop virus from infecting system
Spybot & Adaware- Detect and remove Spyware, Adware etc. Spybot also has realtime monitor feature.

Try very elimentary solutions such as defragmentation of disk also.

    use Avira ...
as you are paranoid about your security also use a firewall (comodo) and anti-spyware like windows defender

portable applications will not slow down your system as they dont need installation , you can also use them
