Thread: A Replicating Virus on my computer. Plz Help!!

Hi All,
A virus has come in my PC which creates folders inside existing folders with the same name. Earlier it was not creating any problem but now the speed of PC has greatly declined, which irritates a lot. :52:
I have scanned my PC with AVG Free, but nothing happened.
Plz Help!!

Download and use Avira free edition

instal adaware as well.

Run a scan using CA Yahoo antispy. Here are other tools. AVG is not that good. Try Avira.

This virus could be W32.SillyFDC or Brontok. Please go through the link below.

If it is newfolder.exe virus then just go through following tutorials, it may help you.

If nothing helps, then do a reformat and reinstall.

Install your AV software as the immediate next step.

Download hijackthis from the following website

Avira was of great help...it removed every duplicate folder on my pc.
But virus was still on d pc. as NewFolder.exe virus had also disabled my Folder Options, TaskManager, regedit...
So i used RegistryCleaner Tool(RRT) which enabled all the windows tools & then i was also able to view d actual hidden virus files(gphone.exe, yh.cmd & newfolder.exe), which i deleted manually. Then i sighed with relief
My pc is clean now & running fine.
