There are many free PC security software's which you can use on your computer, but the one question I always think about is that why is it free. And the word free makes me feel that something may not be as affective or as good.
There are PC security software's which cost money and some free, so whats the difference between the free software's and the paid ones.

Is there a difference in performance or something???

Google is also free. Free doesn't alway be of low quality. Every free product has a premium version which they sell for good amount of money. They also integrates adwares like ask toolbar. Nothing is free in this world, but looks like free.

iam using avast and not a single attck as yet !

Free alternatives are good for fighting against piracy, I was using Quick Heal which in not free AV, & now i'm using Avira Antivir for past couple of days not a single security worry, Avira is free....so go for free.

Free is absolutely free.its for those do not like spending money for security when there are free security programs.one example is me.i don't like to spend on security programs because they end in 1(or more) year(s).and always even if u buy a security program,then also there is no guarantee of 100% security.May be it gives 99.9% or 98% (and so on) but never ever 100% security.
so why spend when there are free ones which can give u same amount of security if u keep it fully updated.
and another reason is why its free is that some companies like avast and avira are very kind and thats why they give many features in their free security programs too.
and believe me or not but the number of people using free antivirus is more than paid ones.go to avast site.they have more than 100 million users and almost 70% of 100 million users should be using avast home(free).
yes,i use kaspersky paid but earlier i used avast and kept it fully updated and i didn't get a single virus.
u should prove ur feeling completely wrong.and use ur free program without any limits.

So if u r in need of an antivirus and don't want to spend money on paid then there are always free ones.

why bother about security at home ? free-wares are more than enough for home users.

Security matters a lot a corporate level and not for home users.

Every person needs some sort of net security............
Just try browsing some sites without antivirus or such stuff and the run a scan using spybot........
You will see the number of spywares and adwares crept in..........

In the list of paid Security suite I think Bitdefender total security is the best........
Hasn't had a problem with it till date........
