Post 4 steps for foolproof security for WA3002GA modem/router(well almost!)

    Hi,
Got myself the WA3002G4 modem from BSNL. As part of setting up a secure wireless network, I was surfing around for related posts. The "Wireless Security Primer - II " by just4kix was the guide. Basically we need to do the following steps

    # Change the password of the admin account of the router
    # Change the IP of the router (eg: 192.168.1.1 -> 102.108.1.1)
    # Change the name(SSID) of the wireless network so that it does not display the default (vix netgear, linksys, default etc) (Eg: netgear -> NYSU)
    # Use WPA-PSK with 128 bit WEP encryption

This would more or less ensure that your wireless network is secure.

Let me know in case any more steps can strengthen the process

    Any more inputs?

this is already more than enough to secure a wireless network and if you still need more then you can just hide your wireless network name after all this.

To hide name of your network you can untick Allow broadcast of Network Name (SSID)
or can tick the option Hide Wireless Network
